Enteric fever (typhoid fever) is a major public health problem, causing
very high morbidity and mortality in developing countries. Currently, third
generation Cephalosporins such as Ceftriaxone, Cefotaxime and Cefuroxime are
widely used in typhoid fever because of the various cases of resistance to various
drugs, the costs incurred from using these drugs also vary, so that it will affect the
effectiveness of the pharmacotherapy and pharmacoeconomics of the treatment.
The purpose of this study was to compare the cost-effectiveness of using
patent and generic Cefuroxime, Ceftriaxone and Cefotaxime in the treatment of
typhoid fever in children at Budi Rahayu General Hospital, Pekalongan.
The research method used in this research is observational analytic with a
retrospective approach and the sampling technique is purposive sampling.
The research was carried out in January – June 2020. The sample in this study
was 77 patients. The data obtained were analyzed using tables and then
calculated using the ACER formula and the ICER formula. The results showed
that the more cost-effective therapy was the use of antibiotics cefuroxime,
cefotaxime, and patented and generic ceftriaxone, namely therapy using the most
effective antibiotics seen from the ACER value (Average Cost-Effectiveness
Ratio) of 741,084/day. And the ICER value is -316074,5
