Handsanitizer gel is a handsanitizer preparation that contains antiseptic which
can kill bacteria and viruses. This research will make handsanitizer gel preparations
using natural ingredients. The natural ingredients used are daun jarum tujuh bilah
plants. The content of daun jarum tujuh bilah plant metabolites, namely flavonoids,
steroids, alkaloids and phenolics. The purpose of this study was to determine the
daun jarum tujuh bilah extract can be formulated as a handsanitizer gel and to
determine the effect of the variation of the gelling agent on the evaluation and
physical stability of the daun jarum tujuh bilah extract gel preparation.
This research is experimental. The daun jarum tujuh bilah extract was carried
out using the maceration method with 96% ethanol as a solvent. By using a variety
of gelling agent HPMC with a concentration of 3.5%, 4% and 4.5% while methyl
cellulose with a concentration of 3.5%, 3% and 2.5%. And data analysis using the
SPSS one way ANOVA test.
The results showed that the physical tests on the handsanitizer gel formulas
1,2 and 3 were semi-solid, green in color with a cool sensation with a distinctive
base odor. The results for all preparations were homogeneous with a pH value of
5.44 - 6.2. The results of the spreadability test showed a range of 5.86 - 7.5 cm, the
adhesion test was in the range of 9.10 - 46.29 seconds and the dry time test was in
