Diabetes mellitus (DM) type 2 is a progressive disorder of insulin
secretion causing insulin resistance or ineffective use of insulin in the body. DM is
treated with oral antidiabetics, blood glucose levels are not well controlled by
requiring insulin therapy. Irrational therapy can have side effects that can affect
the patient's quality of life.
This study aims to determine the characteristics of patients and the use
of antidiabetic drugs in type 2 DM patients at the Gayamsari Health Center
Semarang in 2020. The study was carried out retrospectively with univariate
analysis method.
The conclusion in this study is that the characteristics of type 2 DM
patients obtained data, namely male patients as many as 26 patients (33.33%)
and women as many as 52 patients (66.67%), the most age was 55-64 years as
many as 31 patients (39.74%), and the most widely used antidiabetic drug was
Metformin and Glimepiride combination drug therapy with 104 prescriptions
(80%). A total of 77 patients (98.72%) received the right therapy with the right
indication and the right drug and as many as 58 patients (74.36%) received the
right therapy at the right dose and at the right interval. From these results it can
be said that the description of the antidiabetic evaluation at the Gayamsari
Public Health Center Semarang for the 2020 period has the right indication and
the right drug but has not met the right dose and interval.
