Jackfruit leaf (Artocarpus heterophyllus Lam.) is a plant that not many
people know that it can be used in medicine antidiarrheal, fever, ulcers, skin
diseases, analgesics. The active ingredients of jackfruit that have been identified
include saponins, flavonoids and tannins, which act as antibacterial compounds
capable of inhibiting the growth of Salmonella typhi bacteria.
The research method used was experimental. The purpose of this study
was to determine the inhibitory power of jackfruit leaf infusion (Artocarpus
heterophyllus Lam.) on the growth of Salmonella typhi bacteria, knowing at what
concentration the inhibitory power of jackfruit leaf infusion (Artocarpus
heterophyllus Lam.) against Salmonella typhi bacteria and knowing the size
diameter of inhibition zone of jackfruit leaf infusion on bacterial growth Salmonella
typhi by disc diffusion method. The sample used is Infusion of jackfruit
(Artocarpus heterophyllas Lam.) leaves with a concentration of 15%, 25% and
35% with Chloramphenicol used as positive control and sterile distilled water as a
negative control. Analysis of results using SPSS One Away-Anova.
The results of the average measurement of the clear zone of Salmonella
typhi bacteria with a percentage of 15% is 16.1 mm, 25% is 17.9 mm, and 35% is
19.7mm. From the research that has been done, it can be concluded that jackfruit
leaf infusion (Artocarpus heterophyllus Lam.) growth of Salmonella typhi bacteria.
