FORMULASI DAN EVALUASI SIFAT FISIK SEDIAAN FACIAL WASH EKSTRAK DAUN JAMBU BIJI (Psidium guajava)
Facial wash is a facial skin care product used to clean dirt, oil, and dead skin
cells. This product is popular because of its role in maintaining cleanliness and skin
health and preventing problems such as acne. Acne is an accumulation of oil
glands that are clogged by dirt and infected by bacteria. The antibacterial
effectiveness of guava leaf extract has an inhibitory power at a concentration of
5%. Facial wash preparations are the main choice because of their practicality,
efficiency, and ability to maintain skin health. This study aims to determine the
formulation of guava leaf extract facial wash on physical properties.
The research method used is an experimental method. Guava leaf extract was
obtained by maceration method using 70% ethanol solvent. The manufacture of
facial wash was made of three formulas from guava leaf extract with concentrations
of 5%, 10% and 15%. The facial wash that had been made was then evaluated for
its physical properties including organoleptic test, pH test, foam height test,
viscosity test, homogeneity test, and irritant test. The data obtained were then
analyzed statistically including normality and homogeneity tests. If the data is
normally distributed and homogeneous, it is continued with the One-way ANOVA
test.
The results of the physical properties test stated that guava leaf extract can be
made into a facial wash preparation. The results of the organoleptic test of the
guava leaf extract facial wash preparation are generally brown in color with all
formulas in semi-solid form and have a distinctive odor. Homogeneous for all
formulas and have a pH of 5.96 - 6.04, the results of the ANOVA test obtained a
sig value > 0.05, it was concluded that there was no significant difference in the
concentration of active substances against the pH test of the preparation. In the
foam stability test, the foam stability was 97.51% - 98.03%, the results of the
Kruskal Wallis test obtained a sig value 0.05, there was no
significant difference in the concentration of active substances against the viscosity
test of the preparation.
