SPeSIA 2019 Urgensi Penelitian yang Berintegritas bagi Generasi Milenial
: Cereme fruit is known to contain antioxidant compounds that has been known to absorb ultraviolet
radiation. Excessive UV exposure is known to cause sunburn, erythema, hyperpigmentation, premature aging
and even skin cancer. The use of sunscreen is known to reduce skin damage caused by UV rays. This study
aimed to test the activity of sunscreen from extracts and fractions of cereme fruit. Extraction was carried out
by maceration using 96% ethanol. Fractination was carried out by liquid-liquid extraction using n-hexane,
ethyl acetate and water. Then the sunscreen activity test was carried out with the mansur method in vitro
using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer to determine the SPF (Sun Protection Factor) value of the extract and
also the fraction of the cereme fruit using concentrations of 50, 100 and 150 ppm. The results showed that
ethyl acetate fraction with concentration150 ppm had a higher FPS value compared to extract, n-hexane
fraction and water fraction. Furthermore, the ethyl acetate fraction was analyzed qualitatively by using TLC
method using sitroborate spotting. The results showed that it was suspected that the compound which has
the potential as a sunscreen is flavonoids.
