Singkil leaves (Premna corymbosa), contain secondary metabolites of
flavonoids, saponins, tannins and triterpenoids/steroids. The method used is
maceration and MAE using 70% ethanol as a solvent. Maceration was chosen
because the process is easy, simple and does not require special tools, while
MAE was chosen because the extraction time and solvent requirements used
are relatively low compared to maceration. Different extraction methods can
affect the level of yield produced from a plant. The purpose of the study was to
determine the effect of different extraction methods and the amount of yield of
singkil leaf extract produced using maceration and microwave assisted
extraction (MAE) extraction methods.
The type of research conducted is experimental with random sampling
technique. Parameters observed were organoleptic test, drying shrinkage
content, extract yield and phytochemical screening. Data analysis used in this
study is descriptive analysis for organoleptic and phytochemical screening.
Statistical analysis for yield and drying shrinkage used statistical method
independent sample t-test with 95% confidence level.
The data obtained in this study the yield of singkil leaf extract using the
maceration method was 20.63% while the MAE method was 25.33%. Singkil leaf
extract contains active compounds of flavonoids, tannins, saponins and
triterpenoids/steroids. Statistical analysis of the independent sample t-test
showed no significant difference between the results of the maceration and MAE
method extracts.
