Diabetes mellitus type II is diabetes which usually begins and insulin
resistance is predominant with insulin deficiency relative to defects in insulin
secretion and a secondary cause of hyperlipid. Moringa leaves contain antioxidants that can prevent LDL oxidation while black cumin seeds work to reduce
blood glucose levels. This study aims to determine the effect of the combination
of Moringa leaf extract (Moringa Oleifera) and black cumin seeds (Nigella sativa)
on uric acid and albumin levels in the white rat model of type DM II.
This study was laboratory experimental research. The tested animals
were divided into 6 groups @ 5 male wistar rats. Normal control was given CMC
Na 0.5%, negative control was given STZ 45mg/kgBB induction + NA
110mg/kgBB, positive control rat type DM 2+metformin 45mg/kgBB, P1 type rat
DM 2+EDKBJH 75/150mg/kgBB, P2 type rat DM 2+EDKBJH 150/100mg/kgBB,
P3 type rat DM 2+EDKBJH 225/50mg/kgBB. Data obtained in the form of total
cholesterol and triglyceride levels were statistically analyzed using One Way
Anova and followed by post-hoc test using the Bonferroni test to determine
significant differences between treatment group.
The results of this study indicate that the administration of EDKBJH at a
dose of 225 / 50mg / kgBW can increase albumin levels and significantly reduce
uric acid levels in mice induced by STZ + Na (p
