During a pandemic which is a phenomenon of the spread of infectious diseases
globally for which there is no cure, but people need immunity to prevent disease
transmission by using traditional medicines. Pharmaceutical Technical Personnel (TTK)
as one of the health professionals has a big responsibility related to the use of
traditional medicines. The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of the use of
traditional medicine among the people of Semarang City and to know the role of
pharmaceutical technical personnel working at the Semarang City Health Center in
providing information to the public about the use of traditional medicines to increase
body immunity during the COVID-19 pandemic.
This research is non-experimental with observational method with quantitative
and qualitative data presentation. Prospective data retrieval using a questionnaire
sheet and a structured depth-interview sheet with the parameters of
MaintenanceHealth behavior change theory. The population in this study were all TTK
who worked in Puskesmas throughout Semarang City. The sampling technique used
was purposive sampling. The presentation of data with respondent characteristics is
presented using statistical frequencies and Pie Charts / Histograms and exposure to
qualitative thematic content.
Based on the results of the study, it was found that the description of the use of
traditional medicine and how the role of TTK who worked at the Semarang City Health
Center in providing information to the public about the use of traditional medicines to
increase body immunity during the COVID-19 pandemic was that most TTKs perceived
that the people of Semarang City used traditional medicines a lot. for alternative
medicine for prevention with the use of TOGA because people tend to use traditional
medicine prefer traditional medicine to increase immunity because they believe in the
effect of the medicine.
