Streptococcus mutans is usually found in the human oral cavity, and plays
a role in tooth decay. Tooth decay can affect an individual's overall health. Singkil
flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and triterpenoids / steroids, capable of inhibiting
the growth of Streptococcus mutans. Streptococcus mutans in vitro.
This type of research is experimental. Extraction of singkil leaves was
carried out using the maceration method for 1x24 hours with 70% ethanol
solvent. Antibacterial testing against Streptococcus mutans was carried out by
the disc diffusion method using Mueller Hilton agar media and as a comparison
Amoxicillin 10 µg as a positive control, DMSO10% as a negative control with a
concentration of 50 %, 60%, 70%, 80%, and 90%, then incubated for 24 hours at
37ºC, the parameters observed were the diameter of the inhibition around the
paper disc. The clear zone obtained was measured and analyzed by using the
Kruskal-Wallis test with a 95% confidence level.
The results showed that the inhibition zones at concentrations of 50%,
Streptococcus mutans were 0 mm; 0 mm; 0 mm; 9,27±8,17mm; 15,3±2,04mm;
