Flower telang is a plant that was first extracted in Ternate, Maluku. Telang
flower (Clitoria ternatea L.) contains secondary metabolite compounds including
flavonoids, tannins, phenols which are thought to have antibacterial activity. This
study aims to determine whether the facial wash gel of Telang flower extract
(Clitoria ternatea L.) can be made into facial wash gel preparations and to
determine the effect of Sodium Laurylether Sulfate concentration on physical
characteristics and evaluation results of facial wash gel preparations.
The research method taken was experimental using the free variable
Sodium Lauryl Eter Sulfate as a surfractant with 3 variations of the formula,
namely 7.5%, 10% and 15%. The test parameters used were organoleptic test,
homogeneity test, pH test, foaming test and dispersion test.
The physical properties of the facial wash gel for the 3 formulas of telang
flower extract obtained a homogeneous facial wash, red color, a distinctive smell
of telang flower, and the gel form was slightly liquid. In the pH test, the average
pH was obtained in formula 1 of 6.37, in formula 2 the pH was 6.38 and in
formula 3 the pH was 6.43. In the experimental test of foam power, it was found
that the average foam height in formula 1 was 5.30 cm, formula 2 was 6.57 and
formula 3 was 10.03. The spreadability test in formula 1 has an average area of
39.81 cm, formula 2 is 62.18 cm and in formula 3 it is 103.26 cm. The results of
