Hypertension is called the silent killer because most people with
hypertension do not experience significant signs and symptoms when their blood
pressure increases. Captopril has the effect of reducing blood pressure, on the
other hand Captopril has several side effects, which are commonly encountered,
namely coughing. Apart from Captopril, Amlodipine also has many side effects,
namely edema, headaches. This side effect is important for patients to know so
as not to lose motivation and reduce the patient's willingness or availability to
undergo medication therapy which can result in patient disobedience in carrying
out therapy.
This study is a descriptive, non-experimental qualitative observational
study with prospective data collection through questionnaires distributed to
hypertensive patients. The sampling technique in this study was total sampling.
Total sampling is a sampling technique in which the number of samples is the
same as the population
The level of patient knowledge about the side effects of Captopril at the
Taman Gede Sehat Cepiring Pharmacy shows a percentage of 48% in the good
category, with a good level of knowledge of Captopril side effects, respondents
can be more aware of their choice to continue therapy using Captopril drugs or
not. Meanwhile, the level of knowledge about the side effects of Amlodipine
showed a percentage of 48% in the low category, due to the lack of IEC
regarding the side effects of Amlodipine from doctors, pharmacists, and
pharmaceutical technical personnel.
