PENGARUH JENIS PELARUT PADA EKSTRAK DAUN JAMBLANG TERHADAP AKTIVITAS ANTIOKSIDAN DENGAN METODE DPPH



Jamblang (Syzygium cumini) is one of Indonesia's local fruits. All parts of this
plant can be used for treatment, one of which is jamblang leaf as an antioxidant.
The purpose of this study was to determine the extraction solvent between ethanol
and methanol which obtained the highest antioxidant activity value. The method
used in the extraction of Jamblang leaves is the ultrasonic assisted extraction
method (UAE) with a variety of solvents aquadest, ethanol 25, 50, 75, 90% and
methanol 25, 50, 75, 90%. To find out the active compounds in the Jamblang leaf
extract, phytochemical screening was identified. The antioxidant activity test of
Jamblang leaf extract used the DPPH method with a UV-vis spectrophotometer.
The results of phytochemical screening showed that all jamblang leaf extracts
contained flavonoids, saponins and tannins. Jamblang leaf extract has an
antioxidant activity of 42.13 ppm in ethanol extract solvent 90%, and in methanol
gives an IC50 value of 59.49. In this study, the ethanol solvent gave a higher effect
on the antioxidant activity of jamblang leaves than the methanol solvent.
